You can book the overnight strain from Bangkok’s central station to Surat Thani Station on the southern line with State Railway of Thailand. Best to book either a private air con cabin or a sleeper seat. Trains depart around 7pm at night and arrive in the early morning. Outside the station are many tours and companies that will take you to either Suratthani or Donsak for the onward boat ride to the islands.

There are 2 main companies in the Koh San Road area that have daily services to Koh Phangan Island leave either at night around 9pm, arriving 11am on Koh Phangan and a morning service from 6am arriving on Koh Phangan around 5:30pm.

You take the bus from the Koh San Road area and travel from Bangkok to Chumphon before making the boat ride to Koh Toa and then onto Koh Phangan Island, this is a good way to see some of the thai country side and also the amazing views of Koh Toa and the surrounding islands.
